centuries apart, at home together

to & fro | adverb — in constant movement; backward and forward.

I started to&fro in 2023, after we moved to the Netherlands and I furnished our first home here. That's when I understood what objects actually do: they're what makes a place feel like yours. I'd been collecting all my life — now I do it for other people's homes too.

I find pieces across Europe and beyond, one by one. I don't stick to an era; I'm drawn to interesting forms and silhouettes, and I love mixing textures — something soft next to something strict, letting them get along. Nothing in my own home matches, and everything belongs. The shop works the same way.

The pieces that land here are at least thirty years old, and they look it: worn edges, small marks, the occasional chip. They've crossed decades to get here, and that shows.

Alongside the homeware, I assemble small numbers of one-of-a-kind necklaces and talismans from vintage beads found the same way. Each is made once and never repeated.

to&fro has been featured in Remodelista and Eater, and I source vintage pieces for interior designers whose work has appeared in Architectural Digest.
